Diabetes Education Series

Challenge. A non-profit diabetes organisation wanted to give people living with diabetes reliable, easy-to-understand information. The films had to explain medical topics in plain visual language and work as a coherent series over a longer period.

My role. In cooperation with a medical media agency I developed the visual concept, created the illustrations and composed the films.

Approach. I designed an approachable 2D illustration style and a library of reusable characters, objects and scene elements. That system kept the look consistent across two seasons and made it efficient to produce new episodes while each film could still focus on one topic and one clear message. Scenes were composed and animated in After Effects.

Scope. Two seasons of six films each: twelve explainer films with a running time of two to three minutes per film.

Skills. Patient-oriented visual communication, illustration systems for series production, motion composition and keeping a long-running series visually consistent.
